Permits

The California Fire Code requires various operational and construction permits.

Applications for planning projects and most construction projects are submitted through the ACA Portal for the City of Livermore or the City of Pleasanton. Each permit center will review the submittal and assign review once all required permit application details, plans, business licenses, supporting documents (cut sheets, calculations, etc.) have been provided. 

Projects requiring a Construction permit are categorized as:

  2. Review Online Submittal Steps.
  3. Complete Processing Worksheet:
  4. Login to ACA Portal.
  5. Follow prompts and upload required submittal documents.
  6. Permit center process application and collect fees.
  7. Allows 21 days for the plan review on small to mid-size projects.
  8. Additional time may be necessary given the complexity/size of the project.
  9. Once approved, permit will be issued.

Activities requiring an operational permit are required to obtain a construction permit.  Systems operational activities reviewed under a construction permit do not need a separate process.  Operational Permits will be issued once the project is finalled.  Activities required to be go through a review process are as follows:

*Operational permits require a special activity permit, when applicable.

Activities which are regulated under operation permits for a limited time require a Special Activity Permits.

Event Guidance

Review the guidance resource prior to submitting for a Special Activity Permit.  Event Coordinators, Operators, or other applicants should find these documents helpful for event planning and any supplement document needed with the permit application.  

Permit Fees

Fire permit fees for each of the special activities are established by each City. Locate Special Event permit fees under the Miscellaneous Fee section of the Master Fee Schedule for the  City of Livermore or the City of Pleasanton

  1. Obtain Business License.
  2. Submit City Planning/Zoning Online ACA Portal.
  3. Submit Fire Permit Application and Supplemental Documents 14 days Prior to Event. See Guidance Documents.
  4. Pay Fire Permit Fee.
  5. Schedule Inspection at least 48 hours prior date of inspection
