Emergency Alerts
Stay informed and prepared: The Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department works with Alameda County and surrounding agencies to provide you with the tools and information you need when emergencies strike.
AC Alert for emergency notifications and genasys Protect (formerly Zonehaven AWARE) for knowing your evacuation zone and real-time incident status.
Why These Systems Matter
Together, AC Alert and genasys Protect help you prepare before, respond during, and recover after emergencies.
Knowing your zone in advance helps reduce confusion, avoid delay, and support orderly evacuations.
Receiving timely alerts ensures you are aware of orders or instructions from public safety officials.
What Is AC Alert?
AC Alert is Alameda County’s mass notification system (everbridge.net). It is used by city and county emergency agencies to rapidly distribute alerts via voice calls, text messages, email, social media, and wireless emergency alerts.
It’s free to sign up and allows you to register multiple contact methods—home, work, cell phone, email—to ensure you receive alerts wherever you are.
These alerts provide critical protection when emergencies such as wildfires, flooding, hazardous materials incidents, or other threats occur, so you can act quickly.
What Is Genasys Protect?
Formerly known as Zonehaven AWARE, this is a community evacuation tool integrated with your city and county emergency systems. It helps you know your evacuation zone, check whether your zone is impacted by an incident, and access up-to-date status information during emergencies.
During an event, first responders evaluate the situation, activate necessary evacuation zones, and use these tools to communicate updates.
Steps You Should Take Now
- Know Your Zone: Visit the genasys Protect (formally, Zonehaven AWARE) site to enter your address and see your evacuation zone. Bookmark it or download the app for quick access.
- Register for AC Alert: Sign up via the county’s registration portal. Enter your preferred contact methods so alerts reach you.
- Monitor Status: During emergencies, check your zone’s status via genasys Protect and watch for alerts from AC Alert about evacuation warnings or orders.
- Plan Ahead: Create a home evacuation plan, mark multiple routes, include pets and special needs, and gather necessary supplies. View our resources here.
Tips & Best Practices
- Share your zone information with family, neighbors, and caregivers so everyone knows where to go.
- Keep multiple communication methods active—don’t rely on just one.
- When evacuations are ordered, leave promptly if your zone is affected; delays can pose serious risks.
- Be familiar with safe routes, shelter locations, and what to take in an evacuation bag.
