Reporting & Non-Emergency Services

Air pollution complaints can be reported to the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) either online or by phone (415-749-5000).
If the hydrant is in the City of Pleasanton, call (925) 931-5524. If it is in the City of Livermore, call (925) 960-8100.

Fire Department Services & Assistance

No, the California Highway Patrol provides Car Safety Seat check/installation by appointment only. Schedule an appointment by calling 925-828-4266.  For more information contact our local CHP Office. 

Individuals needing non-emergency/life-threatening assistance, call our non-emergency dispatch center at (925) 447-4257. For emergencies, call 9-1-1.

Needles and syringes are required to be placed in an FDA-Approved Sharps Container and can be dropped off at Kaiser Pharmacies, CVS Pharmacies, and an Alameda Household Hazardous Waste facility.

No, pills/medications can be at a Safe Disposal Drop Off site.

Safety & Education

Yes. Schools in our jurisdiction can schedule a site visit by completing our Public Education Request Form.

To schedule a station tour, please complete the Public Education Request Form. Tours must be scheduled at least two (2) weeks in advance with a maximum of 25 persons in the group.

No, CPR or First Aid Training is offered by many organizations.  Here is a list of known local organizations providing this service:

Disposal & Hazardous Materials

Residents of Alameda County may schedule a drop-off at a Household Hazardous Waste Facility

Contact a local Fire Extinguisher Service Company by performing an internet search. The company is required to be certified by the California State Fire Marshal’s Office. Rechargeable fire extinguishers can be recharged by a certified fire equipment dealer.

The Livermore Alameda County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility located at 5584 La Ribera St, Livermore, accepts a variety of household hazardous waste, including small propane tanks (5 gallons or less). It is open Friday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For larger tanks, contact a propane distributor.

Explosives, which includes fireworks, require approval prior to drop off at Alameda County Household Hazardous Waste facilities.  Contact ACHHW at 800-606-6606 to obtain approval. Visit Disposal of Fireworks to learn more on days and time LPFD is available.

Used oil and filter recycling drop-off locations can be found through the CalRecycle search tool.  We offer used oil recycle kits for Livermore and Pleasanton residents.  To obtain a kit or a specific item, contact our office at 925-454-2361 to schedule a date and time to pick up.

Permits, Plans & Fire Codes

Special Event Permits are processed by the City of Livermore and the City of Pleasanton based on the location of the event.

Construction Project Fire Permits:

  • Pleasanton requires use of their ACA Portal. Go to Plan Check Submittal (Pleasanton) and scroll down to permit type for further details.
  • Livermore now has live online permitting for all permits using their ACA Portal. For Fire Alarm, Fire Protection and Master Plan submittals, permit records need to be created by Permit Center staff. Please email your application to: [email protected] and staff will notify you when the record is ready to upload the documents in online permitting.

Community Programs & Involvement

The Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program offers training and support for community volunteers wishing to be effective during emergency response in the event of a disaster. Complete the Interest Card for upcoming class notification.

The Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department offers both a Fire Explorer Program and a Reserve Firefighter Program. These programs provide hands-on training and mentorship opportunities for individuals interested in gaining experience and pursuing a career in the fire service. 

General Information

Yes, American Flags needing to be retired can be dropped off at any of our 10 fire stations between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm.

Due to increased emergency calls, we no longer offer this service.  The American Red Cross provides this service through their Sound the Alarm Program. As a reminder, homes equipped with smoke alarms hardwired to their home’s permanent power supply (PG&E) are required to maintain the same level of protection.

Fireworks are not permitted within the city limits of Livermore or Pleasanton, including Safe and Sane fireworks. Any Safe and Sane fireworks purchased outside the two cities must be used within the city of purchase. Fireworks and Disposal guidelines.

Businesses can install a Knox Box at the entrance of their business. By intalling the key safe, businesses authorize fire department personnel access in the event of an emergency.

Homeowners can now obtain a Residential Knox Box allowing Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department personnel. Whether living in a home or an apartment, these boxes give access to your specific living space during an emergency response.
