Inspections
The Fire Department conducts routine inspections of facilities that present a higher than average life safety and/or property risk due to the type of activities and/or occupants. Examples include, but are not limited to:
- hotels/motels/apartment building where large numbers of people sleep
- facilities that store and/or use hazardous materials
- hospitals and other care facilities housing vulnerable people
Inspections are conducted by both Fire Engine Companies and by Fire Prevention Bureau inspectors. When violations of safety requirements are found, Fire Department staff works with facility personnel to ensure corrections are made.
